The Heart of Our Mission
The heartbeat of the Give Love Foundation began long before the name existed. It started within me… as a little girl who always wanted to nurture and look out for others. But the true call pressed on my spirit years later, in a moment I will never forget—seeing children lying on the ground in New Orleans. My heart broke, and I knew I had to do more. But at the time, I was afraid—afraid of stepping out, afraid of failing, afraid of disappointing. I was a mother of four, already carrying so much… and yet, God whispered to me. He eased my pain. He gave me courage. He reminded me that this work was not just my desire—it was His will. And so, I stepped out on faith, with the little I had, and God turned it into much.
In 2004, the Give Love Foundation began with brown paper sack lunches—simple sandwiches, crackers, an apple, a juice box—handed out with love to those in need. We handed out food, we handed out clothes, and most of all, we handed out hope. What started small has grown into something I could never have imagined. Nearly 21 years later, this assignment God entrusted to me has touched thousands upon thousands of lives. And every step of the way, His grace, His protection, His blessings have carried us.
The heartbeat of this mission is simple—it is love. Love that feeds the hungry. Love that supports the broken. Love that mentors the youth. Love that walks alongside families navigating mental health challenges. Love that stands with seniors and caregivers making hard decisions. From food insecurity to life skills, from mentorship to dementia care, from case management to advocacy—our foundation has grown, but its heart has never changed. It is still the same love God planted in me from the very beginning.
This year, as I celebrate my birthday, I celebrate Him—the One who called me, the One who carried me, and the One who continues to breathe life into the Give Love Foundation. The heartbeat of our mission is love. God’s love. And through it, we will continue to serve, to give, and to honor the assignment He has placed in our hands.
